Here
are many views of Oak St., sometimes called Main Street, in Lone Rock.
This picture, the earliest, was taken in 1880 and is looking north from
the railroad tracks.
.
This view is from1908 and is looking south toward the railroad
tracks
A
1920 picture of Lone Rock's main street and looking south. The sidewalk
in the foreground is the school path and remains to this day. It leads
from the columns to the 1902 school and is unique in that it afforded
generations of school children a walk way safe from traffic from this
point to the school at the other end, three blocks away.
This
1932 photo, again looking south, but is taken from a point further south
than the 1920 photo. The first building on the left is Moore's Market
at the corner of Richland and Oak streets.
Another
1932 photo but looking north. From this view it looks pretty much the
same today.
